My passion and purpose are to help people navigate their own unique path to a fulfilling career and leadership opportunities. This is because:
I had built a progressively successful career leading divisions and departments for award winning organizations. I was well paid, respected, and credentialed. I attained a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership and Human Resources Development, and completed certification programs in Leadership, Adult Learning, and Project Management at esteemed institutions.
But…
Family and friends often joked that there was 'Real Amanda' and 'Work Amanda.'
'Real Amanda' was free-spirited, kind, fun, brave, always up for an adventure, and loved being intuitive. Prior to working the standard 9 to 5, I had taken a risk post-graduation to live my dreams of adventure for a few years. I did a solo around-the-world adventure for a year and a half, hitch hiked on sailboats in the Caribbean for a summer, and skiied 100+ days each season while working at premier mountain resorts in Lake Tahoe, CA and Vail, CO. And yes- that risk definitely paid off and gave me a huge sense of freedom and fulfillment.
'Work Amanda' on the other hand…yeah, she wasn’t quite as much fun. Once I came back to the US and was working more traditional, corporate roles with 'potential for growth', I was often praised. But I was working on things that didn’t really motivate or energize me. I figured these were the things I was good at. Things coworkers and a workplace would value about me. Things I could make money doing. So I kept on that path for many years because it seemed like what I should be doing.
I had several jobs many would consider ‘dream jobs’ and often paid me to lead teams and travel abroad for what should have felt like meaningful work. And each one left me feeling emptier and emptier and more frustrated and lost in my life overall.
Things changed for me when I figured out what I valued in life, what I valued about my skill set, and what I wanted to spend my time doing. Once I understood this, I set about figuring out how to make those things part of both my work and life.
I’m happy to say that there is no longer 'Work Amanda' and 'Real Amanda'…there is just me. 😊 I get to show up every day to a job that I LOVE, which is helping other people figure out what lights them up, how that translates to their work, and how to secure the job they want or lead their team in an impactful, fulfilling way. We spend too much of our life at work to not be happy with what we do.
My story is the reason my approach combines
I want others to achieve real results and lasting change through clarity, direction, and concrete skills development, all while feeling supported and empowered in the process. I want others to love what they do as much as I do.
Let's connect. I'm interested in learning about you, and I welcome the opportunity to talk about how we can work together to find the career that integrates who you are with what you do.
“Amanda was an absolute pleasure to work with while I was searching for a new role, and was amazing at the times when I felt most defeated. She was encouraging, motivating, and helped me find my confidence to nail those interviews! Before I knew it, I had multiple job offers and one from a place I would consider a dream job. She was there from start to finish and helped me negotiate an amazing offer. I would highly recommend Amanda as a Career Coach. If I ever need services like this in the future, I will be coming back to Amanda.”
